Roll of 28 2026 Day 8

Yearly Photo a Day project for February. Day 8, Bergamot fruit half.

Half a small yellow bergamot fruit with two seeds prominent, sat on a white, grey & black speckled kitchen counter.

Half a bergamot citrus fruit.

I love bergamot oil to sniff, but had never seen one IRL. It smells like flowers & lemon. It tastes like that, too. The Boy got several from Berkeley Bowl to try. I've been sniffing them whole for a few days, and finally one felt juice-able and my curiosity was too great. They do smell amazing on the counter.

Inkventpocalypse note: I didn't get the blog written today as you can tell (I did get swatches & research done), I was very busy (sarcasm) being horrified at Superb Owl commercials & crying (such joy!) at the half time show.

Have you ever seen a bergamot in the flesh (it's NOT the lumpy green citrus that is always pictured online or on products, btw)? What would you do with one if you had a few? (If you're not familiar it's the oil in Earl Grey tea & is often used in fragrances). I'm tempted to see if I can germinate a seed to grow in a container. We already have an established lemon tree that is destroying itself by producing so many lemons, citrus seems to grow well here (more sarcasm - but really, do you need lemons?)

This posted just after midnight, as I got lost down the rabbit hole of bergamot.
